Tongue Tattoos

Personally, I find that the tongue tattoo is similar to lip tattoos. They just aren't permanent unless you keep getting it touched up. I mean, you can see from some of the pictures below that tongue tattooes can greatly fade. The picture of the second tongue tattoo, is actually the third attempt at a touch up.
But, anyway, if you are interested in getting your tongue tattooed, you may be interested to know that tongue tattoos started in the 1820s when the Hawaiian Queen Kamamalu got her tongue tattooed to show her grief over her mother-in-law's death.
The pain of a tongue tattoo is pretty great, considering that it is just a thin piece of tissue, but then the actually pain is goign to vary per person.
Basically, the tongue is best tattooed with a syringe by injecting the ink under the skin instead of using a tattoo machine. A tattoo machine really shouldn't be used on the top of the tongue because the tongue is topped with a thick layer of taste buds which can cause problems, but the bottom of the tongue can be tattooed with a tattoo machine since it lacks the taste buds.
