Piercings are pretty popular and common amongst people of all ages, whether it's the toddler with her ears peirced, the teen with a belly button piercing, or an older woman with pierced ears.
Men and women alike have piercings. Young and old. They're just common. You can't deny that.
Recently, a fairly new type of piercing is the surface piercing. The problem is because it's so new, people think "I want one!" because it's pretty unique. People strive to be unique, which is ironic because no matter how hard one tries to be different, aren't you the same because you're all trying to be unique?
Anyway, as for the surface piercing, it's pretty high in demand because it's so unique and different, but at the same time, the likelihood of finding a body piercer that knows what he's doing is slim. I mean, some claim that they've done surface piercings before, but that doesn't mean that they really know proper techniques and procedures.
I've had people tell me that the guy that pierced their corset has done surface piercings before and he's great at it, but at the same time the guy used captive bead rings, CBRs, which tells me that he has no clue what he's doing.
Many piercers use CBRs or banana barbells in surface piercings. Well, those surface piercings are the first ones that will reject.
Surface piercings need to be pierced with staple shaped barbells, called surface barbells. But, at the same time, the barbells must be fit appropriately. A surface barbell that is too small or too large, defeats the purpose.
