Punk Baby Clothes

June 6th 2008 15:31
Ok, so I was the typical child who wore shirts with animals, stripes, dots, and usually pastel colors. That's typically what people dress their young children in, but ever since I met my boyfriend, we've had some pretty interesting discussions about dressing children. He says his kids will wear black clothes with little skulls on them. I personally, can't image that, but I also can't imagine dressing my baby up in something fru-fru.

So, I did a quick search and found that it's actually pretty popular to purchase alternative baby clothes for your children.

Now, it's probably not the outfits that the typical person would choose, but amongst the right crowd, this style is actually pretty popular.

You can find prison-garb onesies, rockstar clothes, skulls, grenades, camo, bands and band logos, and tons of other styles and images that would fit the goth or alternative lifestyle. I mean you can find hip hop styles, urban, skater, retro, and goth. It's all aternative in my book.

What do you guys think about some of these styles? Would you dress your infant, toddler, or young child in these clothes?

Skull 2 Piece Onesie and Bib

Diaper Pirate Toddler T-Shirt

Grenade Toddler T-Shirt

Skull Camo Booties

If you are interested in alternative baby clothes like those pictured above, or maybe you know someone who may be interested, you check out these websites.

Oh and it's not just baby and toddler clothes, you can purchase maternity clothes and diaper bags.

I think they're cool! The exceptions are the grenade t-shirt and the camo booties. Funny how I don't have a problem with babies wearing skulls but anything to do with warfare on kids just seems wrong. Whoops, I think my double standards are showing

Fun post Whitney.

I thought it was cute, as well. I think the booties would be cute on something other than camo.

These are really similar to an Australian punk rock baby label called Monster Baby ( they have an online store at monsterbaby.com.au). They've got loads of skulls prints and lots of camo and black, but they've also got really edgy graphics with statements like "Skate or Die - Just Not Here" and even a baby shirt with a graphic that looks like a bullet holster across the front, and bullet hole prints across the back of the shirt. Definitely not your normal pink and blue pastels!
Don't know if grandma would dig it...
