Monroe Piercing Pictures

A lip piercing that is on the upper lip and off-center is generally called a Monroe piercing, but you may also hear it called a Madonna or mouche piercing, as well.
This piercing is typically fitted with a 14, 16, or an 18 gauge labret stud. The bars are usually shortened after healing, once the swelling has gone down.
This particular piercing generally heals quickly with an average of 8-12 weeks, with some experiencing complete healing within 3-6 weeks.
After getting a Monroe piercing, you'll want to make sure that you brush your teeth carefully at least three times a day to reduce the amount of bacteria that's in your mout. The less bacteria that reaches the piercing, the less risk of infection.
You will want to rinse your mouth with a diluted sea salt to help reduce swelling. If you don't want to use sea salt, you can use a listerine WITHOUT alcohol. Just do not use regular table salt. You'll want to rinse within 15 minutes after eating.
Always check the ball or gem before bed to make sure that it is on tight. You want to avoid losing the stud during the healing process. You want the jewelry to be snug, but not too tight.
