I've seen many different piercings, but this is considered a weird piercing. Although, it's really not that weird.
Although, I'm not 100% what type of piercing this is, I'd have to guess that they are surface piercings. It is hard to tell by the pictures, but I strongly believe that is what they are.
From what it appears like, the original piercing was done with a straight barbell with the ability to add attachments. This is more than likely not going to heal 100% and become a permanent fixture on the hand.
