Ink Rubbing
February 7th 2009 19:29
Ink rubbing is typically done after a cutting. It is the process to achieved a colored scarification. Tattoo ink is usually rubbed into the freshly cut wound, but in some cases a powdered ink can be used. Essentially, some of the ink will stay in the wound, which will result in a colored scar, which is the desired end result.
But typically, it is rare for the ink to stay permanently, which will usually result in a disappointing end result. In many cases, an aged ink rubbing scarification will look like a poor quality tattoo. In some cases, though, red ink is used to emphasize the cut without resembling a tattoo.
When healing an ink rubbing, you do NOT want to pick at the wound because just like when you get a new tattoo, when you pick at the scab, you can pull out the ink. You want the scabs to naturally fall off so that the ink is fully embedded in the scar.
