How Much Do Tattoos Cost?
June 9th 2008 15:19
This is one of the more popular questions I see on various forums and websites, such as Yahoo Answers. I'm actually pretty sick of seeing people ask other random people how much a tattoo is going to cost, especially when most of the time the person has no clue what they want just a size and maybe a general idea of the design.
TwitterBoy and SqirlyGirl on the internet isn't going to be the ones tattooing you, so it's going to be pretty hard for them to tell you how much you're going to be charged.
The basic elements that determine the price of a tattoo include:
* Size
* Number of colors
* Which colors
* Placement
* Shop's minimum cost
* The tattoo artist, himself
Different tattoo artists will charge different prices for the exact same tattoo. This is why you need to "shop" around a bit. But at the same time, you don't want to stop at the cheapest price.
You need to look at the tattoo artist's portfolio, so that you can get a good idea of the quality that you're going to receive.
You don't always want to pay the highest cost; just because one guy charges the most, it doesn't mean that the quality is going to be the best. Same with the guy that charges the least; his quality may not be the worst.
The only person that can truly answer how much your tattoo is going to cost is a tattoo artist.

Remember to tip the tattoo artist after each session.
