Healing a New Tattoo
September 7th 2008 20:16
So on Labor Day, Monday 1, 2008, I got my third tattoo. It is, as seen below, three stars right at my pant line. I have been thinking about this particular tattoo for several months now, trying to decide if I really wanted to go through it.
Well, the story behind the stars is pretty simple. Orion's belt has three stars, and this is sort of my own belt. Ever since I was little, whenever I was having a bad day, I could go out side or look out the window and find Orion in the sky.
Plus, I very much enjoy the stories of how Orion found himself in the sky. The first story, I heard of Orion was my freshman year in high school. From the story that I remember, Athena (the virgin Goddess) had this huge crush on Orion. They had a lot in common. Well, her twin (Ares) and Zues where getting worried that she would not stay the virgin goddess. Ares tried Athena into a contest, saying that he could out shoot her in the bow-and-arrow.
He had already told Orion that Athena wanted to meet him, and left him waiting. In the mean time after pickign the challenge with Athena, Ares picked a target out in the distance, which so happened to be Orion. And, of course Athena beat Ares in hitting the target. The second she realized that Orion was the target, she sent him to live in the skies for immortality.
So, to me Orion represents the love that you can't have... Sort of...
But, anyway... So my tattoo is not a week old, scabby, and healing. I already see a few thin spots that will need to be touched up, but that will happen in due time.
I just want to share that healing a tattoo can be a pain. You just need to make sure that you use a healing lotion- non-scented- preferrably A & D lotion. Do not pick the scabs and do not scratch!

For a while Ive been thinking of getting a tattoo.. one that says Faith, Hope & Love. Three things I've held on to that kept me going despite and inspite of things happening now.
I want them in Kanji or something. BUT I may need to find a decent tattoo artist here in the Philippines before i even start to think of a design..

Love Speaks
I love stars too!
An antiseptic cream, the same kind that's used for the treatment of nappy rash, works well too. ...and 'cos am so particular, I continued with aloe vera gel in the weeks after (the scabs have fallen off). Heals and soothes beautifully

Hi Hazel, The significance behind your soon-to-be tattoo sounds lovely. Hope it all works out well for you...
