Fixing Damaged Hair The Easy Way.

If you're anything like me, you've dyed and bleached your hair enough times to well and truly kill it. Mine has gotten so dry and damaged that it not only knotted itself - it began to turn into dreadlocks!
Obviously, the only real way to get rid of damaged hair is to cut it off. However, most of us want to cut off as little hair as possible, and when it's dry and unmanagable it's very hard to tell which bits really need to go and which just need to be conditioned.
Rather than spend lots of money on deep conditioning products, I mix up my own - half olive oil and half conditioner. Leave it on for an hour and wash hair normally. You may need to wash your hair more than once to get rid of the greasyness, but afterwards it's very easy to brush and the less damaged sections of hair no longer look like straw. If your hair is very damaged, you may need to do this once a week, even after trimming the ends, to keep it looking healthy.
Once your hair is damaged enough to need this treatment, bleaching it again is inadvisable. If you really love bright unnatural colours and, like me, have naturally dark hair, you can buy wigs, clip-in streaks, or just bleach and dye the very ends of your hair, which can be cut off with minimal fuss if they become too damaged. Remember, sometimes less is more with colour - there's a difference between looking good and looking garish.
Now that's said, I'm going to have to follow my own advice and lose my hot pink hair for a darker colour which will be less damaging to maintain. Any ideas?
