Tattoos on Fingers

March 24th 2010 20:04
The most common tattoos that people get on their fingers are L-O-V-E and H-A-T-E, but it's becoming more and more popular to get cute butterflies, flowers, or tribal rings on the knuckles and fingers. There are many people who are opting out of a traditional wedding band, and are getting tattoo rings, but just keep in mind that you want an experienced tattoo artist to tattoo on your fingers, as fingers can be a wonderful place for spidering and fading.

Tattooing on the fingers can be very attractive if it's done properly. Tattoos on fingers really are one of the most likely tattoos to have flaws and errors. They are hard to remove if you decide to get rid of it, and you can't just cover it up with another tattoo.

Plus, not all companies like employees to have visible tattoos, and what's more visible than your hand; make sure that your employer says that it's ok before you get the tattoo. In some cases, your employer may never notice if you just get a solid band, as it may look like a regular tattoo from a distance, but it's always something that you want to verify first with your job. Just ask yourself, if a tattoo is really worth your job before you get one and don't ask.

The good things about getting a ring tattoo is that it's comfortable at any placement on your finger. The tattoo will always be visible just like a real ring, and you don't have to worry about losing the ring or it getting stolen.

If you decide to get a tattoo on your finger, you want to keep it simple. The more simple the tattoo pattern is, the better it will turn out. Think the pattern through before hand, and if you and your partner are getting the same tattoo, make sure that you both like the pattern.

The pain of getting a tattoo on your finger will vary. Some people find it pretty painful as your fingers are full of nerves, especially around the back of the finger, but in general, it's a small area so it won't take long to tattoo.

Below are a few pictures of finger tattoos.

I always found tattoos on hands and feet fascinating. Maybe because they're so visible, and you can't cover them up.
Some of them are really beautiful.
I've always admired the ones the brothers have in The Boondock Saints, though I am not sure they qualify for a "finger" tattoo since it continues down their hands.
This is a very good post

This is coming from a female with 3 fingers tattooed: Think it through 1st for a while, choose something and then think that through for a while, and find someone with experience tattooing fingers! Also, have the artist draw it 1st and see it on your finger 1st. I am a female who doesn't regret any tattoos, but If I could change any, It would be the ones on my fingers. They were spontaneous and not thought through well. 1 is too big for the area. I had to cover 2 of them up and redo the other all within 1 yrs. So I suggest not doing them on a whim.
